Yes! it's not raining! I'm happy!
I checked outside from the window and I can see the blue sky little bit too.
Finished up to have breakfast and checked out from the hotel in Chetumal, and while I was putting my stuff on my bike, it started rain...

It's like a rainy season in the tropics.

I'm going to cross the border today, and going to Belize.

There are articles at the book "Chikyu no Arukikata" and blogs of people wrote who has been to Belize before, and they said that if we don't have visa and cross the border by land route, it is very difficult to cross over and might have us wait 5 through 6 hours.
I feel little nervous to go!

First, I do embarkation procedure at Mexico side
(Details are following.)
It was not busy, the procedure went smooth and it took just 30 mins.

Then I go to Belize side that is said takes time to go through.

I was following other cars and the man stopped only me.
It's different from Mexico. He speaks English.

"You must buy an insurance."

The person who engage in the border and is gee man of insurance store also says that if people don't buy an insurance and caught by police, the fine is $500.

The formality of insurance was finished and next is sterilizing of my bike.
The man who is the gee man of insurance shop sterilizes and I paid the expense to him. Then he asked me tip.

I gave him rest of my changes from Mexico then he looks little sad but the border person in Belize was good personality and manly.

Next step is to "BUY" Belize's visa at the border. (To get a visa is said "BUY".)

Though the agent looks difficult, I tried to be friendly to him then he issued a visa promptly and gave me an immigration stamp.
It was no problem at all and finishes just in 30 mins.

Though the person who is in charge of security check checkedcargo of a trailer before me, he even didn't touch mine when I passed through final gate, then I could get info Belize safely!

There is the time difference in Belize, so Iset my clock back by an hour.

When I felt relieved,

「Good bye Mexico, Hello! Belize!」

Imurmured that "Good bye Mexico, Hello! Belize".

For a change, I felt lonely to leave Mexico.

I go off toward Belize City!
My GPS navigation has data until Mexico.
From here, like many countries that I have been, I depend for GPS which shows only the map function and direction of iPhone, and go to the destination.

When I followed the route currently studied in advance, I found out that I goes off from a map and drive on a local road.

I wanted to drive on a highway and not a local road.

I was wondering there was a bifurcation then I made U-turn.

When I return to the place appropriate for it, surely there is a road.

But
2

This is dirt and not highway.

Maybe was the road which will make an highway from now on displayed on the map?

I return to a local road again and go to Belize City to follow signs.

The national highway from the border.

Arrived at Belize City!
Since this town had much hurricane, the capital was moved to Belmopan now, but since it was a capital before, it is the most active town in Belize.

There are Black who is called Afro European, Mestizo (mixed breed), Caucasian and Chinese also.

The road doesn't surface well, the road where width is narrow and complex, and there are many one-way traffics.

And finally...

It's the ocean!
It's Caribbean Ocean!!
It's North Atlantic Ocean!!!

I was impressed by the coastline since I have seen at Vladivostok in Russia.

The other side is Africa!

I had been in Africa a half year ago and crossed the Eurasian Continent from there, and have gone the U.S. continent south. When I think back, I felt that I have gone around the earth.

"The earth is round for real!"

I got goose bumps.

Well, I stay in Belize only one night.
Therefore, I have to finish all interviews with kids by end of today.

I was looking forward to coming to Belize because I have asked the person to help me for kids interviews.

2 ladies from the small private school called "Terakoya" have helped me for kid's interviews in Cameroon and one of them whose name is Ms. Naoko Yata introduced the person to me.

Ms. Yata has related with the person whose name is Ms. Yumi through JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency)and Ms. Yumi lives in Belize, so she told me that please visit her a half year later. And it was fulfilled.

It is great that the promise was fulfilled from about 270 degrees opposite of  the earth.
The friendship is wonderful.

Here she goes!

This is Ms. Yumi.
She is very wonderful.

I have contact her since 1 to 2 months and it was the first time to be able to meet her.
She is a music teacher in a local school.

She just got married and her husband is Belizean and very handsome.
Lyon who is her husband runs a Karate training hall and I visited there.

The person who wears blue uniform is Mr. Lyon.
He has a second degree black belt in Karate and was in 3rd prize of all middle American countries. He came to Japan to come in World Karate Championships as the representation from Belize 3 years ago.

When a developing country has such cultivation of aesthetic sensitivity, it is mostly wealthy's children participate, but Mr. Lyon's wonderful karate training hall is contributing also as a place of street children's rehabilitation and if a child/boy who tries to make effort, they are provided with chances which can be studied for free tuition as a reimbursement program.
I am so impressed!!!

The major local TV station came to give interview for my project!

They asked me to explain about the route of trip.
And I replied their interview.
Furthermore, it's in English. ENGLISH.
Can they broadcast it? *laugh*

They said they want to take a video of driving scene.
It will broadcast at the evening news/information program tomorrow.

Hmm... too bad, I cannot watch..
And children who are from this Karate training hall cooperated to have interviews.
It is interesting that the comments were different from before.

I will upload in few days. Please look forward to it!

At last, it is the 50th countries achievement in Belize.

It was like long way but it was short, and I have the opposite feeling too.
And I also feel amazing that I've driven 60,000 km.
This journey is really intriguing.
