I realised that even tough it is my last day in Guatemala city I haven't really seen anything of the city. Hence I decide to go down town.
First of all: the cathedral.
It is exquisite!
I don't have any information on the cathedral as I neglected to look it up, but the interior was completely clean and well preserved, so it must have a new building.
There were a lot of people praying at different locations and altars of the cathedral.
On my journey I have learnt that as humans there is always a need to pray, to ask for help, or just to entrust information. This is a consistent pattern across the globe.

In front of the cathedral there is a square where the citizens congregate in large numbers.
As today was 'Dia de los muertos' (Engl. Day of the Dead), the square was particularly busy.
This said, it's a rather awkward way how to call a day, don't you think?
Palace of the national culture.
At the back of this, and in one corner of the central park there is the presidential palace.
In the park, there are a lot of vendors with carts.
There are also some rather strange corners ….
What is she foreseeing?
And that's what I tried out ;)
She offers to have people weighed.
Guatemala is a bit of a deja-vu of all the things I've often seen on my way from Africa to Iran. :D
The principle through fair.
The buildings would probably be colonial.
Not sure if by chance this may be a shop closed to the national holiday.
There are a lot of performers that entertain the crowd of passers-by.

Is this a bike store? Or an electronics store?
This kind of patterns nothing unusual in a developing country.
This said, didn't they also sell electric bicycles etc. in Akihabara?
Guatemalan policeman.
And this – is this the military or the riot police?
When I turned towards them with my camera, even a lady armed to her teeth and with a grim face broke into smile for me!
In front of the national theatres, public transport buses are on stand by.
This really conjures up a typical Guatemalan feeling.
The church of Saint Francis.
The church is small in comparison to the cathedral I visited in the beginning, and although it looked new, I didn't expect very much.
But the interior was absolutely gorgeous.
Plenty of incense had been burned, and the rays of the sun played with the risen smoke and steeped the church into a solemn atmosphere.
And then, right in front of a man-sized statue of Christ, a life orchestra was playing. The scene made rather an impact on me.
The rays of the sun shine beautifully across a single stained glass in the window.
