今回の子供インタビューは、私が街を歩き、この子！という子を見つけてアプローチをしてみました。
I decided to approach this child while I was walking around the town.

ある意味、とてもボリビアらしい生の声を取材出来たのではないかと思います。
そして今回は、子供は夢を持っているのは当たり前！という私の思いが崩れ去ったことにカルチャーショック以上のものを受けたのです。
I think that this interview was the one that captured the true messages from Bolivia. All ideas that I had about all children having dreams was crushed during this interview. All the while, I was in culture shock.

一人目のダニエラちゃんはしっかり文字は読めて、私からの質問内容は理解出来たのでしたが、その答えは全て「ない」でした。
残念に思うのはこのインタビューではインタビューさせてもらう子供の詳しいバックグラウンドまで知る事が出来ないことなのですが、なんとなく、自由や、希望を持ち合わせていない環境を想像出来てしまったことにたまらなく辛い気持ちになりました。
これが世界の一面の現状なのでしょう。
子供インタビューをしてきて、４９カ国目にして新たに肌で感じた部分でした。
The first girl, Daniela, could read well and understood all my questions. However, to all of my questions, her answer was “No.”
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the backgrounds of the children I interview. This interview made me deeply sad inside, because I had just found out that there are environments where people cannot have freedom and hope.
This is the present situation of some countries in the world.
I realized, once again, how hard their situation was when I interviewed the child in the 49th country.

また二人目のガブリエラちゃんは、やはり平日の昼間でありながら親の仕事の手伝いをしているので学校に行っていないわけですが、親族と一緒に楽しく過ごしていることは伝わってきました。
それが「夢、幸せについて」をしっかと語ってくれた理由だと感じます。
彼女達が住むエリアはとても貧しい場所ということを後から知りましたが、「人に分け与えることが私の幸せ」と言い切るあたりはしっかりとした信仰を持っている表れであると感じます。
The second child was named Gabriela. I was able to see that she was spending quality time with her relatives. However, she stayed home on the weekdays, not even going to school, to help her parents.
This is why she had a strong dream about happiness. She gave me her message.
I found out that the place they lived in was a very poor area. When she mentioned that her happiness is to give something to others, I thought it was based on their beliefs.

また、日本について？の答えに回答は双方なしだったわけですが、ボリビアは街を走る車は９９％日本車です。
でもこういうことにも知識がなく、意識を向けることもないだろうボリビアの子供達の余裕のなさは政情不安が長く続き、貧富の差が南米一の地域の象徴であると感じざるを得ません。
90% of the cars in Bolivia are made in Japan, but both children answered no to my question about Japan.
I can’t help but thinking that this symbolizes how in Bolivia, there is a tremendous gap between the rich and the poor. There is also a persistence of political unrest. This is one of the reasons why children in Bolivia can’t afford to look at their surroundings and gain knowledge.

一日も早く、皆が平等、までいかなくとも笑顔で幸せなクリスマスを迎えられることを切に願わざるを得ません。
I sincerely hope that everyone will have a fair opportunity and have a happy Christmas with a smile.
