英語のアナウンスが理解出来るトールさんが彼の存在を知り、スタート直前に私に教えてくれた。
Mr. Toru who can understand English announcement could know him and told me right before the race.

もう、この時点で私の心は動揺しまくった!
I've been shocked at this point!

そして頭の中が真っ白に!
And my mind became a complete blank!

どうやってバイクに乗るんだ?!
How does he ride a motorbike?!

それもレースだぞ!
In addition, it a race!

とにかく、信じられない!!!
Anyway I can't believe!!!

私の心の動揺と関係なく、レース進行は続く。
サイティングラップが終了し、全車グリッドへ。
Race introduction continues regardless of agitation of my heart.
A citing lap is completed and all vehicles move to grids.


彼はゼッケン、12番。
コースインが最後だったため、一番最後にグリッドにつく。
He is the number 12.
Since course in was the last, he goes into the very end at a grid.

土曜日の予選で24台中、このポジションをゲットしたというのか!?
He's at 19th.
Did he get 19th as this position from 24 vehicles by the primary on Saturday!?


自分にとってまだ、目の前で始まろうとしているレースが現実のものと思う事が出来ない。
I cannot think that the race which is trying to start at hand is still real one.

ついにグリーンシグナル!!
なんとゼッケン12番は好スタートを切り、2−3台を抜いて1コーナーへ進入!!
At last it's green signal!!
The number 12 started well and he passed 2 or 3 vehicles then came into first corner!!


5ラップのレースを順調に、いや、神業の走りで頑張り抜いて16位までポジションアップしている!!
He keeps doing his best in the race of five laps by run of favorable condition and a superhuman feat, and it is carrying out the position rise to the 16th place!!

あれ、俺、レース中盤から涙が止まらなくなってる・・。
What? I cannot stop my tear coming out since middle of the race...

最終ラップで前走者が転倒!!!
A rider right before him tipped over at the last lap!!!

ポジションがひとつ上がって、ゼッケン12番は15位でフィニッシュ!!!!!
One position goes up and the No. 12 finished by the 15th place!!!!!

気が付くと身体が勝手に動き、ピット上の観戦エリアの階段を駆け下り、コースからパドックに戻ってくる彼を迎えにいっていた。
When I noticed, the body moved freely and I got down from the stairs of the watching a game area on a pit, and I tried to welcome back him who returns from a course to a paddock.

彼が到着すると人だかりが出来て祝福を受けている。
When he returned, there is a crowd and he has received blessing.

でも彼が一番嬉しくて、バイクから降りるなり片足で飛び跳ねて喜んでいたのはこのイースタンクリークのコースでのベストラップタイムが今までより3秒縮めたというのだ。
今まで2分を切ることが出来なかったのが、今日のレース中に1分57秒2が出たのだと!
The best thing that he was the gladdest and expressing his happiness such as got down from him motorbike and jumping with his one leg is the best lap time in the course of this Eastern creek for 3 seconds from former.
It came out into today's race that 2 minutes were not able to be cut until now in 1'57"02!

私達は興奮を抑えきれず、祝福の挨拶とともに矢継ぎ早に質問を浴びせてしまう。
We couldn't hold back our excitement and bombard him with many questions  with the greeting of blessing.

この身体はどうして?
コーナリングはどうやっているのか?
いつからレースに出ているのか? ・・等々。
What did it happened to you?
How do you do for cornering?
When have you started to join games? and so on...


レース後、かなりの疲労があるだろうに彼は嫌な顔ひとつ見せず、最高の笑顔で私達に丁寧に教えてくれた。
Even he must be tired after the gave, he answered all our questions with best smile.

いきなり車イスからバイクに飛び乗り、コーナリングはこうやって・・と実演を始めた。
Suddenly he jumped on to the motorbike from his wheel chair and showed us how to do cornering.

彼の名前は、ALAN KENPSTER。
年齢は50歳。
事故は20年前。
トラックにひかれた。
バイクレースは2年前から始めた。
以前は、ジェットスキーをやっていてかなりの腕前だったよう。
His name is Alan Kenpster.
50 years old.
He had an accident 20 years ago.
He was run over by the track.
He seemed to used to do jet skiing and be great at it.

驚愕なのは左ハンドル。
The left-hand drive that it is thunderstruck.

このワイヤーはエンジン始動のためのチョークで、口で引いてセルを回します。
This wire is the choke for engine starting, is pulled by the mouth and turns a cell.

バイクのカウルに貼られた"ARFER MAN"は「半分の男」という意味だった。
The sticker "ARFER MAN" which is put on under cowl means "A half man".

彼はとっても陽気でセンスも最高な男。

He is very upbeat and excellent tates guy.

私の辛かったアマチュアレース時代を思い出し、差し出がましく僅かだが、手持ちの現金を提供し、ワールドドリームツーリングのステッカーを貼ってもらった。
I remembered my hard amateur race age, and although it is intrusive, I provided him with the cash of few stocks, and had the sticker of World Dream Touring put on.

このレースでお腹いっぱい、感無量になってしまい残りのレースを見ることなくイースタンクリークを後にした。
We left Eastern creek without watching other races because we became full of our heart from the race.

私にとって最高のメインレースだった。
It was the best main race for me.



夜、トールさん宅に集まった人でまたBBQ!
We had BBQ at Mr. Toru's place again!

ずっとアランの話しで盛り上がる。
We had been talking about Alan's.

人生について考えさせられる。
I have myself to think about my life.

彼の走りは、永久に私の脳裏から離れることはないだろう。
His driving will not separate from my mind eternally.

人は諦めなければ、何でも出来るのだ、ということをあらためて彼から教えられた。
I was re-taught by him that people can do everything if we do not give up.
